HLTAID004 – Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

8 June @ 08:00 - 17:00

Do you work in a childcare centre, pre-school or school?  Does that school ever take the children out exploring the bush or is it a Forest School?  If so, then this is the course for you.

This workshop delivers the accredited standard unit for childcare workers (HLTAID004) but with a unique outdoor flavour.

This is a single day of learning practical skills in an outdoor environment. Our qualified trainers and casualty actors bring the scenarios to life with their wide range of skills and knowledge. We even go beyond pure first aid and cover preparation and planning advice for your trips, how you can plan for various extraction options if you find yourself a long way from your vehicle or centre and actually use age-appropriate casualty actors so you can really feel what it’s like to bandage a small limb.

This course covers management of various first aid situations including: shock, medical emergencies, burns/ temperature extremes, fractures, poisons/bites & stings, bleeding, allergic reactions, asthma, anaphylaxis, soft tissue injuries and many more in an outdoor setting.

This course is approved by ACECQA and this qualification satisfies all requirements for first aid, anaphylaxis management and emergency asthma training required in a childcare role

Course duration is up to 8 practical hours and you will receive the following accredited units:

– HLTAID001 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

– HLTAID002 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

– HLTAID004 – Provide a first aid response in an education and childcare setting

If you require advanced first aid or Pain Management, please contact us via email

We will provide you with the knowledge and skills to perform first aid in an education and childcare situation with a focus on the outdoors.  The First Aider may be required to attend to an injured or ill child away from the centre with minimal equipment whilst awaiting emergency services

This is Nationally Recognised Training. A Statement of Attainment will be issued following successful completion of all units.  Training completed under the auspices of National First Aid Training institute RTO# 40704
